City of Las Vegas Animal Control: 505-425-7504
Run by the Las Vegas City Police Department.
Unfortunately Animal Control can be very unresponsive in our town. Despite that, it is a good idea to start by calling them when you see a lost dog or injured animal because they are the department that is supposed to help in these situations and it will help with accountability if you have an example of trying to follow the process and being ignored.
If they don't come and it is an emergency you can collect the animal yourself and try taking them to the shelter if the shelter is open. If you end up needing to do this be sure to contact the Mayor's office at (505) 454-1401 ext. 1001 and let them know that you tried to use city services and they were unresponsive.
If Animal Control does come to help you but you are concerned about how they are treating the animal, please record the situation on your phone and then file a complaint with the City.
Also be aware that City Animal Control has a history of taking injured animals and dropping them off at the shelter with no notice to shelter staff and no medical attention or even pain treatment. If you find an injured animal in need of immediate attention and it is after hours be aware that it is probably in the animal's best interest to take it to Mosaic Emergency Vet in Santa Fe yourself.
It is still best to call Animal Control first to follow the official process to hold our City departments accountable for the services they are supposed to provide. If they do take the animal from you please get the name of the officer and make sure they are going to take the animal to a vet or
